The main ipSentry DASH Remote Client watch window is your primary console for viewing the status of various entries on remote ipSentry systems. This window consists of four basic sections

Main Menu
Located across the top of the window, the menu provides basic options for the actions you can take depending on your current selection and configuration.

File

Dash File Menu

Preferences
Select this menu option to modify your ipSentry DASH Remote Client preferences.

Exit
Select this option to terminate IDRC completely.
If you simply click on the window close (X in the upper right), IDRC will be minimized to the system tray and remain active.

Host

DASH Client Host Main Menu

Refresh
Select this option to manually perform a host refresh for the currently selected item in the Host List.
IDRC will begin sending status requests for each subscribed entry and update the status list.

Add Host
Select this option to add a new host configuration and entry subscription items to your configuration.

Modify Host
Select this option  to modify the host and subscription information for the currently selected item in the Host List.

Remove Host
Selecting this option will remove the host configuration and subscription data associated with the currently selected item in the Host List.

Entry

Refresh
Select this option to request a manual status update for the currently selected item in the Entry List.

Suspend Entry
If the currently selected entry is not suspended, you can select this option to suspend the currently selected entry. 
You will be prompted for the duration in Days:Hours:Minutes or you may optionally select a date and time on which to resume the entry.

To suspend the entry for 1 hour and 30 minutes, enter 0:1:30
You can also click "Select" to select a specific date and time at which the entry will resume.

DASH Suspend Entry

Resume Entry
If the currently selected entry is suspended, selecting this option will generate a RESUME request and un-suspend this entry.

Notate
Select this option to view and edit the notes on the selected entry.  The text that you see (and modify) is the same information that appears in the "Notes" area in the ipSentry entry editor and the automated output report details. 

This is useful for making note of current actions being taken on alerting devices.

Hide Suspended
Select this option to hide all suspended items from the detail list.

Hide OK
Select this option to hide all normal state items from the detail list.

Hide Critical
Select this option to hide all critical state items from the detail list.

Hide Template
Select this option to hide all Template style entries from the list.  Primarily used when Auto Subscribe is enabled on the host preferences.

 

Host List
The Host List contains a list of all ipSentry hosts to which you are subscribed.  When you select a host in this list, the entries to which you are subscribed on this host will be displayed in the Subscribed Entries to the right.  If you select "{ALL}", then all entries for all hosts will be displayed in the Entry List.

Subscribed Entries
The Subscribed Entries list displays a substantial amount of data regarding each monitored item.

Currently, this list contains the following detail items (which can be ordered as you like by dragging the columns to your desired location). 

Host
Contains the host address from which this entry detail is obtained.

Name
The name of the entry.

Time In State
The amount of time in Days, Hours, Minutes, Seconds that this entry has been in the current OK or CRITICAL state.

Description
The description of the entry.

Status
The current status of the entry - OK, CRITICAL, or SUSPENDED

Attempts
The total number of monitoring attempts made on this entry since the statistics were last cleared.

Failures
The total number of failures or "CRITICAL" results for this entry since the statistics were last cleared.

Up Time %
Represents the Up Time percentage based on the number of OK results as related to Total Attempts.

For example, an item with 100 attempts and 10 failures would show a 90% up time ratio.

Last Fail
The date and time of the last CRITICAL result.

Last Success
The date and time of the last OK result.

Last Attempt
The date and time on which the last poll of this entry was made.  This is very informative for suspended entries in that you can tell how long it has been suspended.

Action Time
The amount of time that the last action took to complete.

Result Info
Provides detail information about the last attempt results.

Last Request
The date and time that this entry was last refreshed by ipSentry DASH Remote Client.

Also, you may double-click on an entry in the list to bring up a concise detail of the entry and an expanded view of the result information.

Activity Status
The Activity Status shows the current activity of the DASH Client and allows you to see connection requests, results, and errors that may be generated during these requests.
